Really enjoyed our stay here. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the view of the river is gorgeous. Since it is an old building, the rooms are quite tiny and the showers are very very small, so be aware of that. The location is quiet and a reasonable walk from the train station; however, if the main bridge over the Ness is closed you will have a bit of a walk to the next one and back. The restaurant in the hotel is very good, but again the old-building-smallness makes things a bit tricky as you have both hotel guests and restaurant guests navigating the same tiny lobby. Still, highly recommended as a nice place with personality!

My wife and I stayed here on our way to and from Skye for our holiday. The staff were super kind and very accommodating, especially when we came in from the cold drenched and ahead of our check-in time. We had two excellent traditional breakfasts at the restaurant, and a filling dinner with some of the best naan I've ever eaten, and our tables had a nice view overlooking the river. The rooms we stayed in were decent, though I think we felt the beds were stiff and the electric shower confounding. Overall, it was a nice waypoint on our journey.

Tragic this manor house has been reduced to a few rooms with few amenities because the focus of this place is the Indian restaurant that has taken over the reception and breakfast area. We could not get any service whatsoever by phone to the receptionist or after asking in person for toiletries. No one is even there until noon. The place is shut up tight for guests. No coffee, tea or breakfast is offered. The nearest is the Best Western a block away. Book there instead. The staff was friendlier that the owners of the Strathness, who are not Scottish. No hospitality offered at all. Avoid.

When attempting to book a full week at the Strathness, their online booking system did NOT book us for the week we entered into the system, instead it booked us for one day, the very next day (less than 12 hours from the booking time). We double checked to see if it had been human error, but every date we put into the booking system got changed to the same day (less than 12 hours from booking) and only one night's stay. We contacted the hotel immediately to try and get the problem resolved, but we NEVER heard from them and got charged for the room, anyway.
