Anvil Cottage

July 2022. Not a good experience unfortunately. While there are good things to be said about this holiday accommodation (thoughtfully decorated and equipped for instance, great location, interesting history) these are outweighed by the negatives. This is a small space, suitable for a maximum of two adults and a child - not a space to sleep 5 (as advertised). Ideally for a single person or a couple. Standing room for one only in the small but quite well equipped kitchen. No kettle. No washing machine due to lack of room. No privacy. No curtains to separate sleeping areas for instance. Large chunk of floor space taken up with a wood burning stove. Not needed in fact, there's good central heating. Able bodied and fit guests only. Fifty uneven and quite steep stone steps leading to accommodation. No handrail for narrow and very steep stairs to double bed on small mezzanine platform - where it's quite hot and unfortunately the halogen lights shine directly in your eyes when you lie down. No safety rail on the side of the bed. What would have been a truly excellent view of the Clyde, and probably the best selling point of this little cottage, was almost entirely blocked by overgrown bushes. Poor internet connection, though in fairness this may not bother some guests. Edit: thank you for your thoughtful and considered response Marianne - and for describing me as "crazy" for following the abnb guidance when complaining - and you failed to answer my abnb message asking what information you needed. I notice you don't deny any of the points I make. I won't be editing this review again.
