I literally love this old viewing monument. I can imagine when it was 1st built 150+ years ago. The large trees there are stunning, but imagining it without those tree and the views down, I wish I could have seen it back then, as seeing down onto the river Avon must have been spectacular. I only have one small moan, the fact that Barncluith estate is private, you have to park far away either down the road and walk up to it. Or walk even further parking at Chatelherhault. Sometimes the gate is even closed just over the railway path up to it (cars not welcome), but you can open and close the metal gate. So, I appreciate the privacy as a local myself, but this is the 21st century, not the 1920's. Just my thoughts, + I appreciate they may have had issues etc and that's why they close the gate. All in all, I love visiting and just sitting there in the monument. Highly recommend.
