The layout is poor, the stock is overpriced and the staff waver between inattentive and rude. In a charity shop largely run by volunteers, many of whom have likely been touched by cancer, I don't expect to encounter bundles of sunshine, but storm clouds and scowls hardly make for the most inviting atmosphere. Still, I would have left a two star review if not for a recent experience in which I found nothing I wanted to buy in the store and was told, by a member of staff as I headed for the exit, that if I wasn't going to buy anything I could "at least make a donation".
For the record, if I see a volunteer standing on the street with a collection tin, I will donate. However, if I go into a shop I am looking to make a purchase and if I find nothing that interests me I should be allowed to exit without being accosted and embarrassed.
I know there aren't a huge number of charity shops in Greenock, but I'd definitely give this one a miss.
