The Craiglynne Hotel

Overall an okay experience, the staff are lovely but hotel is definitely showing its age sadly with a little lack of love and care. One big bonus is it is dog friendly in certain rooms and in the bar area where you can have any of the food from their main restaurant menu which is good. Our room had a few defects, which can be seen in the photos, nothing a couple of hundred pound couldn't sort. The shower was truelly dreadful, now power and no real control between scalding hot and freezing. Cleanliness wise was dusty but otherwise okay. We didn't dine in but the bar prices were slightly higher than the nearby aviemore which was a surprise.

We stayed at the Craiglynn on the 22nd and 23rd of April 2023. The hotel is a beautiful hotel on the outside. The down stairs lobby's and bar areas have been up dated and looks beautiful. But the room we stayed in was absolutely shocking. We went for our 30th wedding Anniversary and to say we were disappointed is a understatement . On the main Website it states all the room have been refurbished to a high standard but our room was set at the back . There was a deck chair out side our window two floors up which was clearly the staff smoking chair, when I told the receptionist she said it most certainly was not and had been there a while ,until i pointed out the fresh bottle of water on the steps and the cigarette ends beside the chair . The mattress was so tired the spring were poking though so what did they do the put a Duvet over the top of the mattress which she said she also knew about . The plug socket in the room was blown and broken. The heater was rusted and black on top. The window in the bath room were covered in mould . The list just goes on. Now I did go down and complain . But as we were only there for two days was there any point . They were aware of the wrongs with the room but still put people in that room ,knowing full well the state of it and taking 130 plus the price of a evening meal from us as it was a gift from my kids who used buy a gift .com. when asked about this the receptionist said they do set rooms aside for this reason. I said about all the things wrong with the room . She said she couldn't refund us as it was though buy a gift .com. funny that put you in an awful room knowing you can't have a refund. We most definitely will never be going back. On the plus side . The staff were absolutely amazing. The girl who worked the bar and the dining room staff worked so hard . So Thank you to them. Von Auen - wir waren vom Anblick bei der Ankunft begeistert. Erschpft von der Tagestour freuten wir uns auf einen erholsamen Aufenthalt und auf 2 Nchte in diesem Hotel. Doch unsere Freude wurde beim Anblick der Zimmer je zerstrt. Unser Zimmer glich einem dunklen Loch, oder einer besseren Besenkammer mit Ausblick in einen dreckigen, bauflligen Schacht. Das Zimmer war absolut abgewohnt, eklig und von Gemtlichkeit kilometerweit entfernt. Einzigster Lichtblick war das Frhstck und Abendessen. Deshalb 1 Stern von verdienten minus 5.
