I've had enough. This is the the third trip this year (13 March 23) to be cancelled between Ullapool and Stornoway. Cancelled this time because they bought a ferry that cannot cope with the prevailing weather conditions. I am stuck now on the mainland, facing yet another hotel bill, more missed meetings and in this case a missed (and important) hospital appointment. No help from CalMac; no compensation because, apparently, the delay is due to the weather as opposed to planning incompetence. In any case the ferries break down on a regular basis. My business on the island is failing because I cannot rely on travel when I need to. No-one wants to help. The response is just the usual "I'm sorry" but apologies are cheap without action. Niceness amongst the public facing staff is not enough to compensate for incompetence. At the very least stop bombarding me with advertising for the wonderful island life to which CalMac supposedly provides access. A national disgrace. I WANT TO GO HOME. Rant over.
