I attended the store with my mother in law for her to try on dresses for her wedding. There was four of us, I had not realised the store has a strict policy of two people other than the person trying on the dress this was oversight as I had booked multiple shops. This was fine this was not the issue, it is the way in which this was handled by the staff and the way in which we were belittled in store in front of other customers. I had asked if on this occasion would this be okay as it was my fault she said no as this would be unfair on other customers which we did not dispute either. She had went to the office to ask the owners if this would be possible. On returning she had said we have just been listening to your telephone conversation with the store and you were told about this so I am afraid one person will need to stand outside the shop but you can swap in and out. This is possibly the most bizarre encounter I have ever experienced in a store. I cannot understand on any level why they would find it appropriate to go away and listen to a phone call conversation whilst we are in the store and leave us standing there whilst they did in order to prove a point then come back and tell us this. I hadnt disputed the rule so I am not sure why this was required, I feel it was total overkill for the situation and not justified on any level. This led to someone leaving as they werent willing to stand on the street for two hours waiting and also felt embarrassed by the way we were spoken too. I really think the managers of the store think they are a cut above the rest and the sales assistants are rude, abnoxious and judgemental. I have visited many stores similar trying wedding dresses etc and this store is no where on par with any of the stores Ive visited. I wish I had walked away from the shop at this point but chose to stay for the sake of my mother in the law who was also really upset by the whole event. Not only that after two hours in store not even a glass of water was offered, theres no seating to sit down. Other staff walk passed you and do not acknowledge you. The management really need to have a good look at some of their ridiculous rules and how they enforce them. This is potentially the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My mother in law did like a dress in store but out principle has chosen not to go ahead with the sale due to how we were made to feel. I think the managers and staff forget that people attending are buying dresses for big life events such as weddings and it is really important to them. We had made a day of it had lunch etc. and travelled to the store and this ruined our whole day and left a bad taste in our mouth. Catherines has been around for quite sometime and it would appear that they feel they are now too good to have basic manners and empathy and provide good customer service ensuring customers are happy and comfortable. I certainly will not be returning and I would definitely not be recommending to anyone I know.

Had a wonderful experience with Roma . So knowledgable and patient made the day a pleasure. The choice of outfits and prices were competative and the staff were so friendly and not pushy at all. A great day. Thank you.

We recently visited Catherines of Partick to look for a mother of the bride outfit. Robyn was so lovely and excellent at listening to exactly what my mum wanted and suggesting things for her to try. Robyn found a great outfit and made the whole process enjoyable and stress free. Would highly recommend if youre looking for an outfit for a special occasion.
