My cry for help was dismissed completely. All I needed was a referral for someone to talk to as emergency help for my mental health and this gp couldnt even help me with that as its not their sector? All I needed was a referral to a counselor. Very disappointing

This place is not fit for purpose. Both myself and my sister have had appointments with GPs at this practice over the past several years due to poor health. My sister has been told there is nothing wrong with her and that perhaps she needs antidepressants. As did I. I have recently managed to save up and get private tests done and it turns out I may have a progressive lifelong autoimmune disorder (if untreated may lead to cancer) which the GP failed to pick up on for YEARS. Apparently the patient is expected to know what blood tests to ask and unless the patient asks for this specific test the GP will not come up with it themself. Why do we need the GP is my question- especially if I am expected to diagnose, request the correct tests and treat myself before I even ask to see them? I am not a GP but I could see my sister deteriorating right before my eyes for months and as we realised she was not going to receive any help through the GP we decided to go privately ABROAD. My sister is now getting more tests done privately as this GP practice has patched her and she had to wait almost 2 years in regular pain for one of the GPs to finally refer her somewhere. This led nowhere because with next to no testing and only a family history and a couple of questions she was told she's good to go! I had no idea the consultants acquired some magic scanning vision throughout the pandemic not to need any blood tests done to diagnose and treat patients! All other appointments have so far been cancelled or re-scheduled several times. This is probably endemic to the NHS but to have someone who has been going to their GP regularly complaining about the same symptoms progressing for months to have them wait 6 months for a specialist referral (this is then rescheduled a week before appointment and set another 6-12 months in the future) is absolutely disgraceful. Why was it rescheduled? We're not told. What happened to the time the original appointment was? We're not told. Why are there no other appointments available until a year into the future? It literally seems like they are waiting for people to die in the meantime to reduce the backlog they created by refusing to see patients over the last few years. All GP appointments are now not available for at least 2 month into the future. But in the meantime please do work full time BeCaUsE ThErE iS NoThInG WrOnG WiTh YoU.
