Today I made a huge effort to make sure I arrived on time and yet somehow the appointment time in my phone calendar was slightly off so I arrived 'on time' but was actually twenty minutes late.
I feel like this illness is ruining my life with its brain fog and chronic fatigue, the symptoms can come and go without warning so it's hard to know in advance if I'll ever be able to make an appointment. I even said as much off-handedly (that my illness was ruining my life) as I apologised for the mix-up. Ten years I've been a client here and never had a problem until now, until this illness.
In response I was told that if I am late for or miss the next appointment I will be fined again with an even bigger fine than last time for, and I quote, "wasting the dentist's time".
Thank you for that, Ms. Receptionist.
Apparently that's what being a long-time paying customer gets you. I have never been made to feel like such a useless and unwanted human being as I did in that moment.
I also always have to walk in every time and stand at the tall reception desk because they have no wheelchair access and no seat by the reception desk (and if you did sit you wouldn't be able to see each other). Overall they clearly don't have any compassion for their sick or disabled customers.
Find somewhere with a heart, if you can.
