Each of the rooms have their own unique personality, which is tons of fun! The beds are very comfortable and spacious. And all of the recent updates meld perfectly with the historic charm of the building.

Everything about this place was just perfect for us. We adored the art, the quirkiness, the food, the vibe, and especially the great team running the show! We will be back, and we'll be bringing friends along, too.

We came for a half day at the spa on Valentine's day, which was advertised as full use of the spa facilities, massages for my fiancee and myself, and luxury gift bags with spa products. When we arrived, it felt as though our arrival was unexpected, and things weren't ready for us. We were told the steam room was out of service due to a broken part. This is beyond their control, but a frustrating first interaction nonetheless (this could have been communicated in advance to avoid disappointment on arrival in fact we tried calling several times to confirm everything was ok prior to our arrival, but it seems nobody ever picks up the phone).
We were further disappointed to learn that the massages would not be together, as there was only one massage technician that day. This meant that my fiancee and I would be using the spa facilities and having our massages at opposite times, without each other. It seems a bit silly to think that anyone would book a spa day on Valentine's day of all days, to NOT spend it with their loved one.
We tried to ignore our growing disappointment and be positive, but our hopes were dashed with cold water literally - when we went to use the hot tub and found it was cold. It was obvious that it had been forgotten and only recently turned on. Judging by the temperature, my guess is that it was only turned on after our arrival. Again, our frustration was compounded by the fact that we had tried calling to avoid exactly this kind of oversight. (The voicemail says to email them, but let's be honest, the hope of receiving a response by email in short notice is pretty slim when someone doesn't even answer the phone). With two out of three of the spa facilities unusable, the full use we had paid for began to seem disconnected from the disappointing reality.
My massage was fine, though the robes, sheets and bedding were all very tattered, frayed and beyond overdue for replacement not what you expect from the price they charge. My fiancee however, had a truly miserable experience as a result of the unprofessional conversation initiated by the massage technician. This ranged from inappropriate political commentary, to pushing anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists on youtube, and sharing wildly intimate details of a family member's (tragically) unsuccessful pregnancies. We have every sympathy on a personal level, but when I mentioned this to management and suggested it was not very appropriate subject matter for what is supposed to be a relaxing massage, I was accused of being callous, as if the management was oblivious to the possibility that other people may have similar experience, and such a conversation could be upsetting or even triggering. The anti-vaccine rhetoric and conspiracy-peddling was indeed quite upsetting for my fiancee, who had suffered a close family loss from covid. Talk about callous.
Up until this point there was no malice or ill-will shown by any of the staff, who were otherwise quite pleasant. We are not the kind of people to complain, as we find it profoundly awkward, but we decided to ask for a partial refund due to 2/3 of spa facilities being unusable. The staff we spoke to said this wasn't possible, but offered us a bag of body lotions instead. We were surprised, as the website advertised two luxury gift bags included in the spa package. The staff said this was a mistake, though we showed her the website where it was clearly indicated (now removed from the website). In the moment however, we did not press the issue, and politely accepted the gift bag, and did not bother asking for the second one we had paid for. We asked the staff member if she could convey the situation to her manager. She said she would, we thanked her and left.
