After enjoying 7 consecutive spring half-term holidays at Ardgour house during the 90s and 2000s. What a shock to see how dilapidated it had become when we went this year. The outside looked great, but the inside was full of botched alterations. I can understand why the beautiful spiral staircase leading to the pool may have needed to be removed for safety reasons (though we had no problems, even with young children in our party), but did the quirky little passageway from the snooker room to the area that was the gym (now empty) really have to go? For both, if the decision was made to remove them, Im sure it could have been done more sympathetically. Although the house always had the atmosphere of faded glory, it was comfortable and there was never mould in the bedrooms and this was the first time I arrived to find a dirty sock in the room I was in, hardly the mark of great housekeeping. Sadly, I wish we had never gone back. In the early days we were greeted by Bob, who worked for the original family and loved the house, this time, the door was open with a security camera over it. I can only assume that Graeme is not counting on any return visits from his customers.
