We stayed in the Lord Lyon set of apartments. Overall quite good but some issues/feedback. WiFi connectivity is ubiquitous now in the hotel business. You have that, true, but the speeds are amongst the slowest I have encountered in all my years of traveling. Somewhat ironic since all the information about appliances, etc. are to be accessed via the web. The lighting in the bathroom is quite poor. The lights are small can-type lights in the high ceiling. The position/size/location cause there to be virtually no light being shone on one's face which makes shaving quite difficult. The towel warmers operated as advertised (timeing) only once. The hot water can much too easily be turned to scalding in the shower. Amazingly quiet despite being located facing a very busy street. Thanks for the quick response to the sheet request.

Pictures can be a bit misleading... We've booked a little flat at Linton's thinking it was going to be an outstanding place for our last two nights in Scotland... and for the price we paid, we were completely disappointed... It was four times the price compared to what we had paid in other places in Scotland and it was far from being as clean as them. Of course, Linton is well located in central Edinburgh and we understand that booking a small flat has to cost more than just a room in a hotel. But When we arrived at the flat (n 14), everything seemed worned out : there were marks and stains on most walls. The bed was roughly made and the bed sheets and cushions were greyish. Quite dubious of the bed's cleanliness, we checked it out inside and there were 4-5 hairs in it... it doesn't mean the bed sheets weren't washed, just that it wasn't made cautiously. There were also crumbs and hairs on our bedroom's floor and especially under the bed. We had nobody to go to, except the person at the intercom... After explaining the situation, a Linton's staff came upstairs to the flat, and very kindly understood our comments and point of view. He brought us back another set of sheets. We finished the job by doing our bed and the hoover (we didn't mind doing it, it's just a bit inappropriate when you've paid 140 per night). Other few things put us off in the flat : the curtains' reverse in the sitting room were completely washed-out and brownish, the two decorative bed cushion in the bedroom were stained, the bathroom's pocket door didn't close properly (it was asked to keep it closed when having a shower so as not set off the fire alarm) and there weren't the sitting room's decoration you'd find on the photos which made the flat a bit welcoming. For the positive points, the view was great, the bed very comfortable and there was everything we needed in the kitchen. Ah and last thing, the day we had to leave, a lady from the cleaning staff knocked at our door five minutes before 11.00 am. We explained we were finishing cleaning up the last dishes (it is normal to leave everything in order before you leave) and finishing packing our bags. But then at 11.05 am, another cleaning-lady knocked and lost patience ! We were quite upset to be thrown out this way, in a supposed "caring" place where customer's comfort comes first. To put it in a nutshell, we wouldn't recommend Linton Collection, it is far too expensive for the supposed service - other locations were cheaper and probably a better value for money. Linton is quite of a business, which doesn't reflect the sense of hospitality and kindness of the Scots.
