The New Town Deli has a large outdoor seating area positioned on a wide paved corner which allows customers to bask in the sunshine in a chilled and spacious environment. We ordered flatbread with falafel/hummus/roast peppers/cholula and breakfast burrito chorizo/scrambled eggs/mull cheddar/jalapeno/spinach. The burrito came, not as a flour tortilla, but as a dish served on another flatbread. Overall, the dishes were quite enjoyable. The base sauces lifted the dishes and the salads contained good flavours and textures. They were sufficiently different from other menus that we would try these combinations again. The flatbreads were hard to cut; non-sharp knives or rubbery flatbread? The falafel was a bit too greasy. The table tops were wooden strips with large gaps which meant any dropped food {which in our case is usually plentiful} goes straight down to the pavement along with your cutlery if you are not too careful. We ordered 2 flat whites which came with some fun Halloween theme froth and we had a peanut nut blondie. We would reorder the flat whites but the blondie; probably not. It tried to be too many things and missed out on the gooey texture and peanut butter flavour. Would we go again; yes. The savoury dishes offered some interesting combinations, the coffees were consistent and good, and there was a large enough choice of cakes for us to try another one.
