Our first night was horrible. Cold, undercooked steak and service that was slow at best. The manager came speak to us and comped the meal and gave us drink tickets for another night. We did go back and was immensely sat in a booth. After 15 minutes of waiting, we sat at the bar and met the unfriendly bartender. Although the drinks were good, we had to ask for the check to close out. While waiting, we heard another guest asking for their check. Service here is very slow and disorganized. The team definitely spends more time chatting together instead of checking up on the guests. The Scotsman hotel staff is amazing so the restaurant was a surprising letdown.

We came in for dinner at 8:25 and were promptly sat. They took our order at 8:40. One of our two drinks arrived at 8:53, the other at 9:00. At 9:22 I asked about our food or even our bread appetizer and was informed that they had a big event downstairs and the kitchen was busy. I asked if we could at least get the bread and butter that we had ordered over 40 minutes ago and the manager said they would check with their colleagues in the kitchen. At 9:41 the steaks we ordered arrived however we didnt receive the bread appetizer until 9:49pm. They informed us that we would not be charged for the bread and they were sorry for the delay. I said its okay and would like to order dessert now while we are still eating our steaks since we are now aware of the delays in the kitchen. The waitress said she would need to check if the kitchen is still accepting orders. She returned minutes later saying the kitchen is closed and that we could not order dessert. I have worked in the restaurant industry for many years and can see that the staff is trying but that there is something lacking in management that is allowing these delays without keeping guests updated. Had I been told the kitchen was closing before the restaurant itself I wouldve ordered my dessert at the same time as everything else. Had I been told there was an event and that I would not receive any food for over an hour I might have opted for room service or to go someplace less busy. Communication is key. They were apologetic for the wait but they were reactive and not proactive with the issues they were facing. I hope they continue to strive for improvements because both the restaurant and the hotel it is attached to have a lot of untapped potential.
