I visited the pub yesterday with my 10 year old son who loves Spoons chips (as he calls them). We were on a week's holiday in Edinburgh and we thought we'd stop at the pub quickly to have a quick drink and quick bite to eat whilst the Mrs went around John Lewis (opposite). I ordered a plate of chips, cider and orange juice via the app. When the chips came to the table I was told I'd have to buy a meal if I wanted to have the cider I had ordered. When I explained we was just making a quick stop and just wanted a quick snack the employee shrugged and said it was policy I said I was unaware of any such rule and offered to swap my drink for a non alcoholic one but was advised that on this one occasion I'd be allowed the drink and I wouldnt be served any more. I didn't want to cause a scene as my son was looking forward to the chips (his grandfather used to take him to the local Spoons for chips on a Sunday before he passed away a few years ago) the pub was quite busy so we got on with eating the chips. Once my son had finished we got up and left. I didn't touch the cider and left it on the table as I felt I had been made to feel like a bad parent for ordering it in the first place. I shall not be returning to any wetherspoons due to this experience. I do not need to be told how to parent. Wetherspoons should stick to being a pub rather than enforcing their views/agendas. I could completely understand if I was ordering a number of whiskeys or shots or appeared tipsy/drunk but to order one pint of 4% cider and to be made to feel like the worst parent ever is completely unacceptable in my opinion.

Ordered 2 panini rolls one with chicken and barbecue sauce (no sauce on panini. A cheese one that came out with literally no cheese response was thats why we dont do a cheese panini its cheese and ham! Extra cheese should have been added since money is saved on ham. When I approached manager (I think) as he had a white shirt and was scoffed at for saying baguette by mistake and was arrogant wont be returning. Seen other customers treated the same way by him Shocking way to behave and treat paying customers
