Daisy was absolutely brilliant before, during and after the home birth of our second child. Her sensitivity and responsiveness to what we wanted / needed was absolutely spot on. Her experience and confidence in us gave us confidence and I feel very lucky to have had her support - it was transformative! If you're thinking of having a doula at your birth, we would fully recommend Daisy.

I struggle to communicate the impact that daisy had on my second pregnancy, birth and postnatal period. Working with daisy was one of the best decisions of our lives and the effects have been profound. I had planned a home birth for my first pregnancy. I spent a wonderful 6 hours of labour there. In the last two hours, for reasons i am now skeptical of, the midwives asked me to go to hospital. While there, i was pressured to act against all my instincts and long story short, this affected our initial bond alongside a tough post natal period in a national lockdown. I knew for my second birth, that I again wanted to be home, but supported by people who truly believed in womens ability to birth beautifully. We wanted a constant and we knew that would be via a doula. We connected and I knew I would be honoured to have a women so wise, experienced and trusting at my birth. We met a number of times at our home where we shared food and stories and daisy had great methods to get to the heart of our hoped for labour, birth and post natal. She shared educational books and even beautiful childrens books to help prepare my son for his little sisters arrival. During labour she was incredible. She prepared the pool, the room, was the point of contact for the midwives, leaving my husband 100% focused on me. In the early stages she was a calming presence knitting a little hat on the sofa. Her calmness passed to me. When the midwives came she took charge and kindly but clearly communicated my various wishes. (The midwives also loved her!) During the later stages she seemed to intuitively know what I needed, a fan, a cool cloth, privacy in some moments. She gently advised on a breathing technique to relax my pelvic floor and wow, it all happened after that! She held my hand and roared with me as my daughter came into the world She enabled us to have space to bond with our daughter, while she busied herself cooking food for us. Our daughter also sported a beautiful knitted hat and knitted cord tie from daisy. Daisy visited us a number of times after birth, bringing herbal remedies to support my healing, and nourishing food and a chance to debrief about the birth. I can not explain the high we were on and, still are on 4 months later. My mental health improved post partum and I believe it was through this healing birth. We are forever grateful and will never forget all she did for us. The world is a better place with women like daisy xx

Its very hard to describe all the ways in which Daisy supported me and my wee family in the journey that led to meeting and welcoming my daughter. Having known each other for a wee while as fellow doulas and friends, Daisy was there from pre-conception through to postpartum. Even before I got pregnant and my baby was still only a dream in my heart, I had already asked Daisy to be our doula. I could talk about how the prenatal sessions were useful and informative to me and my husband (and all three of us, really), facilitating the conversations where we explored our expectations, hopes and concerns for the birth - which they were - but Daisy did so much more than that. She was there through the wobbly steps of pregnancy, when your identity starts to crumble and whirl to make space for the new you that will birth, welcome and nourish a new baby. She always had the right words and suggestions. I have suffered two losses before, and when anxiety and fear crept in about this pregnancy, Daisy was never short of ways to help me appease myself (a lot more useful that always letting somebody else appease you). She also brought new ways of celebrating and marking my pregnancy and transition to motherhood that were so wholesome, like a mother blessing and a bump cast. During the beautiful, empowering birth of my daughter, besides the logistical extra pair of hands to set up the pool, feed me, etc, Daisy was the shore that anchored me in the dance between believing that I am and fearing that I may not be strong enough to withstand birth. She is was also a grounding force to my husband, who had never seen birth before and openly admits that if it wasnt for Daisys reassuring presence and demeanour he wouldve been a lot more nervous. She held space, sang, liaised with the midwives, and loved us, contributing to our oxytoxic cocoon that was key to our homebirth. During postpartum, Daisy did SO much to ensure we were comfortable, well-fed and supported to give our first steps as a family of three. She brought us nourishing meals, healing herbs, books, kind and encouraging words, strong hugs, feeding support, and so much more. Daisy truly was a welcomed and deeply appreciated part of this chapter in our lives, and we will forever be grateful and honoured to have shared it with her. And we look forward to telling our daughter the story of her birth, and the part her Tia Daisy played in it

I met Daisy 6 years ago when I was was pregnant with my 5th son. I didnt engage in her doula service at that time, but did take some of her yoga classes and she always remained in the back of my mind. Fast forward 5 years and I was expecting our 6th baby. Maternity services had changed somewhat due to the fact that the independent midwife we had used previously was no longer practicing. This was quite a substantial shift for us, and we were now part of the NHS process. It was because of this that I felt we needed support and more importantly, continuity. I knew Daisy would be that person. Being my 6th baby, we didnt need a lot information per se. It was going to be our 6th home birth as well, so not a road we hadnt travelled before, but as a woman I felt I needed a safe place to connect and discuss my pregnancy and birth. Daisy and I connected deeply on that level and she was exactly what I needed. Always listening to my rants and holding space for my thoughts and feelings. She was also a tremendous support for our five year old son. We have no family close, so having someone available to help make him comfortable during our home birth was paramount to us. She got to know him and formed a lovely bond that helped ease all of our minds as a family immensely. It was invaluable, and for us equally as important as any maternity support she could provide. During labour Daisy was perfectly present. Doing nothing and yet everything all at the same time. She knew I didnt want a lot of hands on support, but she was there exactly as I needed her to be. Quietly present and always available in her gentle yet profoundly strong manner. And when I asked for her to support my son into this world, her hands were there to gently help me in the moment he was born into the water. Perfectly present. After the birth she was just as invaluable. Always checking on us and helping us adjust to our new dynamics. Bringing us amazing food and continuing to make sure our five year old felt safe and giving him lots of love and attention during this family transition. It was wonderful for him. I simply cant say enough wonderful things about Daisy and what she provides to birthing women and their families. Our love for her will always remain.
