ECAS are such a great charity to volunteer with! I have been a befriender for almost 6 years. As a young student I joined in order to give me some time out from my studies, a perspective away from the pressures of young person life and to do something to help the Edinburgh community. I see the benefits my regular befriending visits continue to bring my befriendee, in terms of companionship and having someone to chat to. I also enjoy the fun and friendly atmosphere of the volunteer meet-ups filled with befrienders of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. If you are looking for a fun and easy volunteering opportunity and enjoy getting to know a variety of people, all while feeling like you are making a real difference to someones life - join in!

Fantastic organisation doing really good work with disabled people in Edinburgh. Can't rate the team enough as they are a really lovely bunch who want to makes a real difference. Great pics from over the years in the office if you ever fancy a trip down memory lane.

I have worked as a volunteer befriender with ECAS for two years and seen the difference regularly visiting an isolated person can make. You will also occasionally meet other volunteers and exchange experiences with a bit of fun thrown in as well. If it's something you might consider doing why not give it a try. I can recommend it.
