Garrington Property Finders - Scotland

We used Garrington Property Finders - Scotland to help us find a new home in Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland in 2019. We were moving back to the UK from Switzerland so that my husband could take up a new job in Edinburgh. The Garrington representative, Edwina de Klee, in Scotland was our main contact but the staff at the head office were also very helpful. Throughout the whole process, Edwina was an absolute star. She gave us a clear idea of how she could help, provided us with very good advice and, when some people would have worried that they would lose face in the eyes of clients, asked the Chief Executive to give us directly the benefit of his experience. Edwina provided detailed feedback on local market conditions, which was invaluable as Berwick was, to us,a completely unknown quantity. After her first visit to the house, she gave us a very good overview of the town (for example information on the local churches and places we can walk our dog) as well as her impressions of the house and its suitability. I found her videos and pictures of the house invaluable, given that I couldn't visit from Switzerland because our rescue dog can't cope with boarding kennels . My husband found her a great help when she accompanied him on his viewing of the house, making time to meet for a coffee and discussion beforehand and ensuring that he never felt rushed during the viewing. We also really valued Edwina's recommendations for solicitors , surveyors, damp specialists and insurance brokers. She also bore with equanimity our frustrations, empathising wholeheartedly whilst gently pulling us out of our grumpiness! When we arrived at the house, after a 2 day journey from Switzerland, Edwina had collected the keys, aired the house and taken the meter readings for us. Above all, we appreciate and are grateful for Edwina's tirelessness (encouraging us to contact her on her holidays is just one example), calmness, cheerfulness and sense of humour. Her understanding of our requirements and those of our dog (who does indeed rule the roost) was second-to-none. In short, as my husband said to me the other day - the fee for Garrington's service is some of the best money we have ever spent. Moving back home from Switzerland, to a town we had no knowledge of or connection to, could have been a nightmare especially when many landlords of long-term, temporary accommodation will not accept dogs. We would have found it incredibly stressful to find a new permanent home, which was right for us, without the help of Garrington Scotland.
