I had an excellent experience with John at Geoffrey Tailor Kiltmakers. He took me through the whole process of choosing the different aspects of the outfit and guided to me towards something that I'm really happy with. He was even happy for me to take the jacket and waistcoat back after its first wear to get some new buttons made by a friend sewn on for no additional charge. Highly recommended!

So pleased with our sons first kilt. Gorgeous and elegant artistry. The owners were very gracious and knowledgeable. Geoffrey Tailor Kiltmakers are the only place you should go to get bespoke kilts and accessories.

- The new owners' reply to the review pretty much sums it up. They're insincere and rude, which may fly in a typical Royal Mile tourist shop, but doesn't work for me at Geoffrey Tailor's price point. We've used Geoffrey Tailor for years but the latest experience has been a nightmare that the business is unwilling to put right. My husband was measured for a pair of tartan trousers to replace the pair made for our wedding but Craig mistakenly commissioned high waisted fishtail trews on the order form. I called on the same day to correct this and confirmed in writing. We were reassured the order had been corrected. The trews were made up with the fishtail waist. We reiterated - again, followed in writing - that what was ordered was tartan trousers, and Geoffrey said he would be able to change the fishtail waist trews to a pair of conventional tartan trousers. My husband picked them up yesterday and the only adaptation is to have cut off the fishtail. The waist us up under my husband's ribs and he can't move in them. The belt loops are not attached to a waist band and there are darts over the hips leftover from the fishtail. As such, they just don't fit - they're neither trews nor trousers and are not useable - and we were charged for the more expensive fishtail waist anyway "because they had over 100 of alterations" - to (not) correct their mistake. The business has changed hands, Craig has left, the new owner John says it is nothing to do with him and Geoffrey - who has retired - says he is not prepared to address the complaint because he never us (?). The office is in disarray (it was never perfect but the team were always delightful) and nobody is accountable. Geoffrey was aggressive on the phone; told me off for staying outside the shop with a newborn baby and a toddler, issued a diatribe without drawing breath or letting me finish a sentence. He refused to speak to my husband (possibly preferring to shout at a woman) rendering an already awful experience really traumatising.
