Portobello Library

Lovely local library, very kind, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Fully wheelchair accessible with a ramp at the front and a toilet accessable via a lift. Pre-pandemic this was a fantastic place to hang out with your children with a very well stocked children's reading area. There were consoles which could be hired, rhyme time sing along sessions for the wee ones and a Lego club which was really busy. Access to computers, games consoles, newspapers and photocopying are on offer as well as a drop in centre for the local politician. These are all back in place and in addition the library is now a designated warm zone, with heaters in place and access to free wi-fi. There are now book clubs for children and adults, check their social media or go in and ask for details. Toilets and free sanitary products were on offer with educational classes and a hirable space upstairs. There are decent safety measures in place, with screens for social distancing and regular cleaning with a drop off box for book returns.
