It does exactly what it was set up for to protect dishonest, incompetent and corrupt Solicitors and it does an excellent job of that as can be seen by all the ONE STAR REVIEWS, One star is far to good a response it should have a MINUS FIVE STAR COMMENT.

Still waiting for them to deal with a solicitor who has taken over 10 years to deal with an executry. Its been a nightmare and they have taken every step possible to fail to solve this issue. Focussing on the lack of communication from the solicitor. We only got to scatter the ashes of the deceased 10 years after her death because the solicitor failed to collect the ashes or advise us where they were. Still waiting for the final accounts and payouts and SLCC say they can't investigate it as my my is "only a beneficiary". I have lost all faith in their ability to do anything for us. I really feel for people who don't have the ability to spend hours and hours fighting and wading through legal speak.

An organisation that is beyond corrupt. They act as loss adjustors to look for any reason not to investigate a lawyer. They are supposed to regulate and improve legal services for the public and business. Rather they deny and obstruct and even make excuses on behalf of lawyers. It truly is remarkable, their lack of integrity and dishonesty is off the scale. Their only remit appears to be, to keep the inefficient and unsafe status quo which rewards their lawyer members so well. The board members are given their well paid positions by Scottish ministers. In return the board do not investigate controversial cases that could embarrass the government. The board members go from SPSO, ICO, SLCC, PIRC. If they do as the government instruct they are awarded another 3 year position. The legal system lacks a decent level of Quality Assurance, being at least 30 years behind any reasonably regulated industry. Yet the SLCC do absolutely nothing to improve an unsafe system, rather they protect their members from any level of accountability. Remarkably the CEO, who has a masters degree in Quality Management, thinks it is acceptable for lawyers to perform critical tasks in an ad hoc fashion, with absolutely no level of control or monitoring of standards. A scenario that is beyond hypocrisy. It would be better to have no regulator at all than these imposters. The public will be under the impression that the SLCC hold lawyers to account. That is absolutely not the case, rather they protect them. The SLCC "go to" excuse for lawyers is professional judgement, before signposting a to a very expensive judicial.review. Their regulation that state they are unable to alter a decision is as absurd as it is dishonest. Shut the door and throw away the keys to this dishonest regulator. They receive funds from the government, therefore the tax payers, as well as legal professionals, however they appear to only work to protect their lawyer members and friends. If ever an organisation needed a comprehensive audit, it is SLCC. The SLCC dishonesty it highlighted by the time barring of very valid complaints. Considering how inefficient and cumbersome their investigations are, their audacity to time bar members of the publics valid complaints, who have no control over third party agencies, is quite frankly shameful as well as dishonest. Any regulator with a genuine desire to improve would time bar no issues. I am perfectly sure the statistics to show how many complaints from the public are upheld would be enlightening. I think I will ask via a FOI.
