I wouldn't recommend SALT. I attended their complete beginners course and it's not suitable at all for a beginner course in terms of content and delivery style. I have sent this to friends and other Spanish tutors and they agree that it's not the best for beginners. The school may be good for students who are more advanced with their learning, but sadly my beginner experience was poor.

I started attending lessons at an intermediate level at SALT about 5 years ago and I never stopped! Jorge is a great teacher and very passionate about teaching. Even with covid and the necessity to move to online classes, he's managed to keep the lessons interesting and lively by always looking for new learning materials and supports. I can only recommend SALT if you are looking to learn and/or improve your spanish!

SALT Edinburgh killed my love affair with the Spanish language, Im afraid to say. I should stress that the quality of the teaching is second to none, and I really enjoyed the classes I attended, but... When Our class signed up for the 2nd component, we were told that wed move forward as a group - but due to some mix up we were separated, and 2 of us were placed in entirely different classes. Unfortunately, the management (which appears to consist of one man, Jorge) was utterly unsympathetic, and unwilling to even attempt to understand why we might wish to have been placed together, having made our first, tentative steps as a group. It still boggles my mind, that he was happier to refund my fee than find a way to make it work. In future, I would go with the edinburgh university courses - sure, youre not supporting a small, independent school, but if anything goes wrong, theres a structure in place to deal with it, as opposed to the whims of one man.
