Been going since 2002 and then from 2004-2019 and then 2022 onwards. This year, 2023, will be my 19th Tattoo. Its a wonderful night out for me, and the wonderful singers, bagpipes and military bands make it so spectacular. The best bit is when everyone plays together and the excellent sunny weather and clear dark skies make it so enjoyable.

The tattoo itself was fabulous as always although accessing online tickets was confusing. I'd booked 3 tickets & taken out Ticket Protection which i claimed on when one of our party couldn't attend due to family illness (a valid reason to claim). The ticket insurance is through a separate company, which is part of a bigger company, based overseas. They did everything they could not to pay out. Belatedly i looked at their reviews which were almost completely negative, with many people waiting months and having legitimate claims refused. I hate injustice & unfairness and was as determined i would get my 65 refund as they were not to pay out. It was only when i contacted someone with 'clout' at their main company's head office that suddenly i got an apology and my claim was paid the same day, in full. I did contact the Tattoo Office, who allow Ticket Protection to use their website, to voice my concerns on behalf of customers, and the matter was going to be referred to management for discusion. Conclusion? Yes, absolutely do attend The Edinburgh Tattoo, for a superb & totally unique Scottish experience but don't bother paying for ticket protection. Read the reviews!

Unexpected and amazing. We decided at last minute to do this, tickets on site were reasonable and easy to use. Huge crowd getting in, we got there early, they moved the line with a precision American Concert goers will appreciate. Was a bit cool, prepare accordingly. Backdrop at Edinburgh Castle was beautiful in all display phases, the assortments of voices and cultures were wonderful to see, sound was good, so was the seating. Spine chilling piper on the castle top alone, ANYTIME the pipers performed in mass. Catch it if you can.

No longer a Military Tattoo, simply a modern variety show. Broadcast sound very poor.
