Poor service, over-priced food, cafe is worse than sainsburys.

This place epitomises everything wrong with the rampant privatisation of public spaces. In stead of having a friendly student-minded canteen, this space inside Edinburgh College of Art focuses solely on maximising profit. They advertise a bowl of soup for one pound fifty, what you get though is half a bowl of watery soup. Instead of actually making an effort to make the student experience more affordable, they exploit students by forcing them to buy food in order to be able stay in the warm, amidst this cost of living crisis. Their coffee is sub-par.

Bad! I've been here a few times and I'm yet to have a good cup of coffee. The food seems pricey for what you get. The atmosphere of the place was strange too, there was a real sense of animosity between the staff and the customers. It did not make for a pleasant environment in which to sit and relax. I was also confused as to who this cafe was aimed at... the location suggests students but the prices do not. Altogether a pretty poor showing from 'The Cafe', I am in no hurry to return!
