if I could give it 6 stars I would. saw the place on Google maps and thought it would just be a nice little takeaway, and with any luck the food would be okay, but it was honestly mind-blowing. super soft and tender ribs, friendly and charismatic staff, awesome music. the food was so good I had to go back and get a second helping :D

Great pulled pork sandwich with a friend who highly recommend it. cozy outdoor seating. Big portion sizes. Nice small business local vibe.

This is nothing less than the best BBQ in the UK. This opinion is shared by my Chicagoan partner who believes they're on par with the US greats. We've been getting delivery since the preorder days after they opened, so we already knew that the brisket, the ribs, the smoked sausage and the accoutrements of slaw, pickles, mac etc formed a formidable smorgasbord. Last night we went and ate in for the first time - the hospitality and easy friendliness of the staff was wonderful, the walkie-talkie banter of Camdalf and Broadsword was better than most Fringe shows, the informal setting a must for getting sauce-covered fingers and the inevitable gorging that follows. The Beef Short Rib is king, absolutely melt in the mouth, beefy deliciousness. The Butt Yum Yum was a great balance of sweet, spicy, meaty goodness. The Texas Sando was genuinely the best sandwich I've had this year. My tips for your visit to Smiddys are to dress appropriately for the weather (although Hare of the Dog pub said we were welcome to bring the food up), be prepared to spend - it's not cheap but it is fantastic value for money and I do not regret a single penny spent there.
