What a joke! They print the wrong address on my bank statement and cheque book and then cannot tell me what my bank postcode is when I spend an hour on the phone trying to find out!

A junk bank will only cause you infinite trouble, so don't choose this bank anyway.

When I sold my artwork to an 80 yr old lady in Edinburgh I gave her my Transferwise details since her bank, BoS, has such ridiculously poor exchange rates. Wise offered me mid-market rates plus a 0.4% fee - saving me tens of pounds in bank fees (BoS were approximately 5x more expensive). BoS refused the transfer and furthermore (I quote from the lady's message to me): "well the bank of scotland wont let me pay your fee!! they say it's a scam and i have just been on the phone for 33 minutes trying to convince them that it isnt a scam. i am stressed out of my mind.. they are also now saying that my account will e temporarily suspended...." Is this what BoS does to protect their margins? Scare little old ladies with fake scam stories. It's one thing to warn customers; it's another to claim a legitimate payment is a scam and freeze all their accounts. Chicken Little, anybody? When I asked her to get them to put it in writing to take to the UK Financial Ombudsman she wrote "they tell me they cant give me an email re refusal to pay - i am actually on the phone to them at the moonent - waiting to speak to a manager -" They refused to examine documents proving that the payment was legitimate because "we don't accept emails". They get 2 stars because there's a happy ending. The manager finally agreed that it wasn't a scam. It took her a suspended account and almost 3 hours on multiple phone calls, even after the manager intervened. After talking to the lady she tells me "I will be changing banks to Tridios as soon as i can.... " [I think she means Triodos, who have vastly better environmental credentials as well]
