Excellent staff member called Ally (? Allison ?) at Bank of Scotland, Newkirkgate - Leith, went out of her way to help me re-set my online banking account on my new mobile phone. Thanks, Ally, you are a gem . PeterO

Have not travelled for 3 years due to Covid and closed borders. Came to the UK and lots of my notes are no longer usable as its the paper version. Was told by all the shop vendors that I can just change them at ANY bank. Went to this bank and was rejected as Im not a customer? Its just swopping notes, whyd you need to be a customer for that? There is no transaction and youre not losing anything. This wouldnt have happened back where Im from. Its the simplest and most basic service, exchanging spoilt or no longer valid notes. Once its done the foreigner will then be able to spend money and bring up your countrys business in doing so. Why such a requirement just to change it? Hard enough carrying a 20mo toddler and hunting for a bank as parking will be hard so we didnt drive. And got turned away for such an absurd reason. One would think its the foreigners/tourists that will face this problem of not having the correct current notes as they are not in the country to keep up with changes, and you expect them to be customers? Totally illogical.
