I ordered a large salted caramel birthday cake (30 servings) for my MIL's 80th birthday, and picked it up this weekend to take through to Pittenweem in Fife. Everyone who had a slice commented on how fresh, delicious and beautiful it was. Other people brought elaborate and delicious desserts, but the birthday cake was the definite stand out. Many people asked where it was from, so no doubt Bibi's should get a few orders from the East Neuk. :-) The balance of flavours was spot on, the crumb very light and tender (so fresh), slices were easy to cut and plate up, and ordering and pick up were very easy. We will be ordering again.

I climbed the steps, wrestled the door open and walked into a clean bakery brimming with picture postcard perfect cupcakes! We're talking works of art and while I was there people popped in for gift boxes and that's a good choice. Bringing cake treats to a party? Check here. Out of the corner of my eye I saw scones and macarons, but they're really second fiddle to the cupcakes. Third fiddle. The staff greeted me warmly and I got served straight away. I was here because Bibi's is supporting a food week called 358 Eat for charity. Edinburgh has loads of bakeries but Bibi's one of the few to help out. That's a reason to visit this bakery. I noticed that not all the staff knew about the 358 deal or how to put it through the till. Awkward, I hate being that customer and I know how cringe it is for staff as well. I also know how hard staff communication is and training can be for SMEs but it's totally worth the effort. Tip: You can sit in here and plug into the wall power to recharge your tech. Just don't abuse. My coffee was delicious and Bibi's have a thank you logo wall to their suppliers and I recognised local, ethical suppliers. I had a cookies and cream cupcake which I'd also have been proud to unpack and serve to friends at a party. Overall? In a city full of bakeries, Bibi's is one to visit.
