Quirky little museum, one floor of local fossils with information about Orkney geology and geological timescale. Very informative. The fossil exhibit is not overly expansive, which is a good thing as its easy to overload on number of exhibits. I think the real gem is the first floor exhibit of Orkney things from WW 1 to WW2, island life, curiosities, all neatly arranged and described. An extra archive room lets you poke around in old documents, books and maps. Friendly staff.

Unfortunately no staff so cafe shut, did us a favour as found a much nicer food place.

A brilliant place to visit, well worth taking the time to spend a morning looking over the huge amount of Orkney fossils and geology, alongside fossils and geology from around the world. The glow room is definitely cool. After the rocks, there's the local heritage to be taken in, and a great research room and shop with any amount of great stuff! All in all, a fantastic place!
