Why only three stars when everyone else is giving it five? Well, first I must congratulate the organisers on collecting in a vast amount of material which tells the story of life and survival in the front line with the all the bits and pieces of kit, weaponry, and technical gizmos. I can well understand the five-star reviews given by those who had an escorted tour by ex- servicemen who could pick out items to help them tell a story. But for the person who wants to wander around the museum at their own speed everything is still too higgledy-piggledy. Items need labelling, short descriptions and explanations et cetera. So my best moments were the fact sheets outside, on what happened to conscientious objectors and how they had the vote taken away from them, how the Germans improvised with steel springs because they had a shortage of rubber for tyres, how British access to cotton gave us this webbing which was lighter and easier to handle than German leather webbing. These are just examples but give you some idea of the stories untold in this museum. So for me potentially five-star but not yet. Still a lot of work to be done . Good luck .
