However, the worst thing of all was the day the splashbacks were to be fitted. My kitchen fitter was there to supervise things - on examination they had been printed on the wrong side! Clearly, basic checks were not made on receipt from the printers and again no checks were made immediately prior to leaving Intaglios premises.
To compound this situation, the attitude of Intaglios owner was unbelievable. I had to call them rather than hear from them. An apology was reluctantly given, with the rider were all human and mistakes are made. These splashbacks are expensive and Intaglio has an attitude of were good and we know it - well - we are all only as good as our last job.
We tend to judge people according to the way we would behave ourselves. I would have phoned the client immediately, apologised profusely and explained how I was going to put it right. I would have promised to keep the client appraised of progress and ensured that replacements were a matter of urgency. I would also have offered a small financial recompense (that suggestion was summarily dismissed). Finally, when the correct splashbacks had been installed, I would have called the client, apologised again and ensured that all was well.
