Just got permanent house after 2 years in hotels and temporary tenancies. The local council (West Lothian) granted us a community care Grant for washing machine/cooker/curtains and carpet for living room and carpet for one bedroom and one bed. It's me and my 21 year old son so another bed needed. Was granted another grant for 2nd bedroom carpet and bed and curtains for bedrooms and bedding. And vinyl for the bathroom. The guys were quick and efficient. Quite friendly but could tell they wanted to get on and away. Probably loads of jobs to do. They measured up carpets while here. Carpet fitter landed next day and was quick and efficient and done a satisfactory job. Only issue is the washing machine (which I presume is brand new) had 2 dents at the side of each door probably due to the fitter using his feet to push it in. In his defense the gaps for the appliances are extremely tight indeed. Kitchen not fitted by a proper joiner. Not complaining. Just being honest for sake of review and to be fair I've done it myself before pushing machines into tight gaps. Carpet/vinyl bloke was friendly and quick, only complaint is no underlay in kitchen and floor not properly checked for nails etc. Only a couple which I've remedied and had to put half a dozen sheets of A4 folded once at floorboard where it was clearly going to tear. Anyway, overall. Not bad at all and at the best price. Free! My advice? Have a check on floors before they land. Hammer in old nails/staples. Hoover. Any dodgy bits tell them. (Floorboards etc) see what they say. As someone mentioned just because most who get this companies service are bottom of the poverty ladder usually, doesn't mean they can treat you like dirt. If they do tell them to bolt. I did not have this experience. Just decent lads doing a job. The way I see it, it's a starter package. Only way is up. Won't be long till we're smashing the jobs Bigtime and will have the American style fridge freezer etc etc. The couches are bloody awful. No way your falling asleep on them but they do the job as intended and will soon upgrade to something more comfy. Meantime Im considering turning the two two seaters in either a long 4 seater or a corner style 4 seater. If I do I'll post pics of before and after. Service: Carpet installation
