Visited on Saturday 12th March as a couple. Great location, advertised award winning food but in these expensive times the menu has obviously been adapted towards the cheaper end of the spectrum. The place is clean but no obvious vibe or atmosphere (at least around 2/3pm). Service and prices for drinks were good. The blond girl serving was certainly friendly, the guy seemed very busy, didn't chat or smile much. Decided to stay for lunch, looked at menu and sat at table behind the door. Ordered the Indian mixed combo to start, waitress spoke to colleague and I think that they discussed this but only together, not with us. Also ordered the steak pie (with potatoes), not chips and the lasagne with garlic bread. Noticed that tables on slightly upper level were pretty busy with food being ordered. Large sharing platter arrived with chips,(not ordered by us) not potato wedges (as advertised on menu), 3 chicken wings, 2 slices garlic bread, salsa nachos, garlic mushrooms with 2 dips to be told by waitress that the pakora, samosas from Indian mixed combo were off due to bad quality. This plateful were obviously from frozen supermarket aisle. The taste was OK though and we were both starving... The steak pie had no gravy apart from inside pie and the roast potatoes were also the frozen packet variety. The lasagne tasted fine but as I got nearer the bottom of the dish there was a big pool of oil sitting there. Overall we had bigger expectations of this place but food was filling and cheap. Food & drinks: Cheap and cheerful and plentiful.
