Excellent training in this job before you start, however, the hours of work can be terrible, gaps in between clients which means hanging around a lot to go to visits, more than 29 minute gap means you don't get mileage going to that client,so in theory if you work all day that's 4 visits you go to that mileage isn't paid to start with. Not good.Hours of work can be unreliable too so don't plan on getting hours your told you will get. Most of the carers I worked with didn't have a contract so in theory it's 0 hours contract. Training money that is paid is a lot less than if you were working these hours out on shift! However the clients are the ones that matter and all that I met in my time with this company (8months) were luvly, although some could have done with longer times but this is down to the council how long they get! Will miss them! Do expect to use ur own mobile phone when on shift too, think this should be reviewed too, the company should issue us with money for this but dosent! Be expected to do nvq 3 if not already done so as this is apparently mandatory for this line of work now, don't even think there is an increase in pay when this is achieved?? From my experience in working in care, profit is what matters to these companies not always staff or clients! Think it's about time the whole system is reviewed!
