Shack's Fish and Chips

We were all very hangry and shacks sorted us out, my kebab meat was as dry as a afghans flip flop but it tasted ok

So I am staying in the Village and I thought I'd give them a try, the reviews as you read them are somewhat spotty, some people like some don't. It's average really, I've had worse, (and obviously better, but it's what you are used to) the burger was ok, it was cooked and not one of the usual tiny thin ones you get from some over places. The chips were the best part of it and even then they were a little over cooked. Onion rings tasted like they had been bought frozen from Iceland. The staff (two young guys) were doing the job they were paid to, customer service was far better than some other people have described it! Overall, like another review has said, in a village with little options (and one that appears to be wholly focused on the tourist trade) it's an ok choice.

Very expensive for portion size of fish and chips, fish batter had an unpleasant after taste, chips soggy, bland, not in a rush to return :(

AVOID! We sat right outside the chip shop and ate our not-very-nice fish and chips, and saw one of the two young men who had served us, VAPING DIRECTLY BEHIND THE COUNTER! He wandered around and continued to vape in the area where the food was fried. There were two customers in the shop at this time, possibly their friends or family, and they vaped too! In addition, the fish and chips we had that evening looked nothing like the photos that other reviewers have posted. Our chips had the skin on them, and was very greasy. The fish looked like a standard haddock that had been cut in half. It was half the size of any other fish weve ever had, and the batter was extremely greasy and weirdly smooth. Will not be back, or recommending this place to anyone, and we are locals.
