Whilst I agree that Stephen is an excellent pharmacist, the woman standing in this morning was horrid. She was rude and condescending. I was advised by the doctors surgery to go to the chemist which I did in good faith, but was made to feel like a naughty schoolgirl Absolutely no excuse for such poor customer care.

Unfortunately did not have a good experience. I called on the phone and spoke to, what I assume, was a pharmacist (a woman). I explained that my vet told me to get infant calpol for my dog and to ensure there's no xylitol in the medicine (toxic to dogs). (My dog had a surgery the day before and was given pain meds but they're pills and she was having a hard time swallowing them.) She confirmed they had infant calpol and I said, "great, I'll be down shortly." She said good-bye and that was it. When I arrived, I told the woman at the counter I spoke with someone over the phone regarding the Calpol for my dog. I wrongly assumed the woman at the counter was the pharmacist and because she was a woman, I assumed it was her I was speaking to. It was not. She stepped away to head to the pharmacists (within view) and repeated what I said. The woman I was speaking to confirmed it was her but then decides to state that they shouldn't be selling that to me because it's for a dog. None of the pharmacists spoke to me directly. The woman returned to the counter and it then became an unnecessary conflict with her stating "we shouldn't be selling this to you." I'm Canadian and found this level of gatekeeping over infant medicine strange as that doesn't occur back home for items that are OTC. The rare exception would be if you looked like you were strung out/intoxicated/etc. I asked if she was refusing to sell it to me. She just kept repeating "we shouldn't be selling this to you." She then asked me if it was for a child. I said no. The customer next to me chirped in and said, "she just wants you to say it's for a child" so that she could sell it to me. I said I won't do that because it's lying and it's ridiculous to compel or coerce a lie from someone when she already knows what it's for. I'm not lying. Frankly, the pharmacy, as a store, has a right to refuse service. However, I should have been told they didn't want to sell or were uncomfortable selling it to me ON THE PHONE. I was honest over the phone. If the pharmacist and counter clerk were SO troubled by the useage then they should have been forthcoming on the phone as well. Why waste my time and theirs coming down there? Was it for show? I don't understand why create conflict and tension in a store that could have been easily avoided. And to encourage someone to lie lacks integrity and is uncomfortable. It was all so unnecessary. The woman at the counter, like the other reviewer said, acted as if I was a bad person doing something bad. I don't pay for goods and services by any company to be patronised or condescended to. In the end, after refusing to lie and stating, "will you sell it to me or not?" I was able to buy it. I will never go to this pharmacy again. It's not worth the drama.
