Anworth Old Church does what it says on the tin... it's an old churchyard filled with a range of gravestones dating from as early as the 11th century to as late as the 20th. It really is a charming and peaceful place and many of the 17th/18th century gravestones have some lovely folk-art motifs. Be warned, however, the site is off the beaten track, down some extremely narrow country roads, parking is limited (even treacherous) and there are no facilities.

Beautiful atmospheric church and graveyard, many interesting headstones and family histories. Easy access in a small hamlet of a few cottages, but a hidden gem.

The Church where the influential Samuel Rutherford ministered back in the 17th Century. It's a small Church, rather the remains of the Church, and wall enclosed graveyard. No entry fee or wait. It's down a small country lane so be careful when driving there. Parking is very limited. I enjoyed my visit but there isn't much reason to return. Praying for more men like Rutherford across Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland in our day!
