Just at the end of a wonderful, stress free holiday in the Anvil cottage. It really is a beautiful location. Georgina gave us a lovely warm welcome on our arrival. Her dad took time to show us round the water lades and gates of the old mill. Our cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable with a great view onto the river. It's a great base to explore the area. Looking forward to coming back here again next year!

As soon as I arrived I knew I'd made the right choice. This converted mill is in a great setting. The accommodation has a modern interior with a level of cleanliness and comfort that you don't always get with a holiday cottage in this country. It really was a nice place to relax and I think it's a special experience to be able to look out of the living room windows to the river flowing close below. Outside there are communal gardens along a stretch of the river, which are a sort of cultivated wildness with plenty of nice places to sit in peace and quiet. It feels isolated and rural, yet it's only a short walk to the town centre (or you can phone a taxi). Dalbeattie is a charming little town with some nice pubs and restaurants, plus a couple of small supermarkets, a butcher's, a baker's -- basically everything you could want. I visited in December to do some cycling and had a great holiday. It was a total de-stress.
