My mother, who has dementia, was placed in Wakefield House for 2 weeks' respite when her boiler broke down. After only 1 week, we recognised that the care she was receiving was excellent and we were lucky that they had a lovely room available. This was 2 weeks before lockdown and we thank our lucky stars that the timing was so perfect. From being a lady who spent 23 hours a day in bed, she is up every day, chatting to staff and fellow residents. She so enjoys the company, especially at meal times, and many the activities laid on even during these difficult times. I cannot praise the staff enough for their patience and kindness, and the cooks are always coming up with new ideas, such as afternoon tea, fish and chip evenings and beautiful continental breakfasts. We are kept up to date by frequent postings on Facebook showing us daily life, which is really comforting as we live in Edinburgh and Lancashire respectively, so have not seen Mumsince 1st March. Thank you Wakefield House.
