Amazing wee find! Mum and dad recommended this place for an afternoon tea and it did not disappoint in any way. Everything was fresh, delicious and high quality, cannot beat a good home made scone! I don't think there's anything the 2 owners don't know about tea and they have such an amazing variety it's truly impressive. There's also a fab wee shop in which you can buy your favourites to take home. In terms of service the 2 couldn't have been any more friendly or helpful - will 100% be back time and again.

A little gem for tea lovers. High above the River Nethan near Lesmahagow in Lanarkshire is the brand new Scottish Tea House, an absolute must for anyone who loves proper teas, or wants to learn about them. We visited in November and although the day was cold, we were lovely and warm seated behind huge sliding glass windows with magnificent views for miles out over the Lanarkshire hills. We were presented with a three tiered cake selection including sandwiches, cakes, sweet treats and scones served with cream and jam. Everything is made and served by the owners Joanne and her husband Bill and is delicious. But this is only the accompaniment to the main event, the teas themselves. Joanne is passionate about her teas and she searches the world to find the ones she loves best and then imports them for the benefit of those lucky enough to have found her fledgling business. We sampled a choice of a refreshing iced tea made from Aged White Peony with Mandarin, a lovely warm Jasmine Dragon Pearl organic green tea and a delicious Darjeeling Castleton Estate black tea. Each offering is expertly brewed with an array of sophisticated tea making equipment to ensure the the right weight of leaves are steeped in fresh water at an exact temperature for a precise period, ensuring you get the tea just how it is meant to be served. Joanne can tell you all about the history and provenance of the tea she is serving and then, from the sale room next door where her full range of products are displayed, she can sell you these teas or recommend others once she has heard about your preferences. Once you have sampled your teas, made your purchases and feasted on the home made delights there is one last surprise. Between the Tea House and the owners house Joanne and Bill are growing their own tea, some bushes are outside with many more in a polytunnel where you can see first hand, the Camellia plants that all the teas we drink, come from. We are told that soon, all being well, these bushes will be in production and perhaps you might be lucky enough to sample a truly Scottish Tea, grown, picked, processed and consumed within just a few meters of where you are standing. Just one word of warning, if you want your tea served in big china mug with milk and two sugars, the Tea House is probably not for you, but for everyone else I thoroughly recommend a visit.
