Amazing to find a railway so high up in the hills. It is Britain's highest adhesion railway and well worth a visit. Set in stunning scenery and surrounded by the fascinating history of the lead mining industry that existed in the area (the Lead Mining Museum is also very worth a visit). The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their railway. It is a short drive from the M74 but feels very remote. Ideals for families as well as anyone interested in railways of industrial history. We had an excellent, interesting and enjoyable visit. Highly recommended.
