Where to start! I bought an Aspen house on their site at Shotts. I bought it off plan and on paper the layout and sizes looked good. The spec also seemed good and they seemed happy to accommodate - for a fee - some small extras and changes I wanted made - like a double coax cable running from the middle wall in the house to the loft so that Sky could install Sky Q straight to the centre of the house without having to run unsightly cables. All good so far but then it started to go horribly wrong. They offered glass wardrobe doors. I didn't like that and I wanted oak. I was willing to pay for it. Initially they seemed happy to accommodate that too but with around a month to go before moving in date I was asked to pick wardrobe doors from a range that had only glass options. When I told them I didn't like it what followed was one of the most frustrating exchanges of e-mails and telephone conversations I've ever had with any company. You'd have thought I was asking for diamond set doors and was insisting they paid. That wasn't the case. I just wanted Shaker style oak panelled doors and I told them I was willing to pay - I was even willing to source them and purchase them if they would fit them. Even that was too hard for them. Infact at one point the company director told me not to buy the house if I didn't like the glass wardrobe doors because they only wanted to deal with "happy people". In the end we agreed no wardrobe doors would be fitted and that I would source a contractor to put the doors in I wanted. Some hassle when presumably they had joiners on site already! The plans indicated an under stairs cupboard. Handy I thought. I would use that as a shoe store coming in off the side entrance. Except when I finally got into the house the cupboard was missing. The site manager claimed that they had stopped putting the cupboard in because it was stupid to have a large door with only around 4 feet of usable space behind it. Have they never seen small doors? No-one told me about this amendment to the plans but the site manager seemed to think it was perfectly reasonable to remove storage space from the spec without telling a buyer. They had charged me 60 for the double coax cable, but they'd installed single coax, no use for Sky. And when it was pointed out to him the site manager shrugged his shoulders, said he'd got it half right and would offer half the money as a refund. Other items I had ordered weren't fitted. When I complained the site manager offered no apology, he just blamed Covid for a lack of communication between him and the sales agent, and he claimed I hadn't been charged for the items, even though they appeared on the bill. Several of the windows were covered in scratches, and there was unsightly glue marks on the insides of the windows. . The site manager refused to accept they were faulty cause when he stood 2 meters back looking into a white sky he couldn't see the marks! Some of the upstairs windows also don't have a BS kitemark on them, which begs the question if they meet building regulations Sockets were loose, a simple fix but it shouldn't have been left that way. The company director refused to accept that leaving the face plate loose so people can access the wires is a health and safety risk! The combi boiler has a water leak - not hidden away where it's hard to see it. It's on the filter right underneath the boiler dripping onto the kitchen work surface. To get hot water in the master bathroom I need to turn on the cold tap. Don't get me wrong when it's fixed I'm sure this will be a fantastic house in a great estate, but my experience of the company is that they don't seem interested in customer satisfaction. If they did they wouldn't have contractors shouting at home owners for parking in the empty bays next to their house where the contractor has left a shovel!
