DISCOVER SCOTLAND HOLIDAY COTTAGES

My disabled, retired Wife and I love Scotland. We visit every year. However, we won't be booking through Discover Scotland Holiday Cottages in future because of their cancellation procedure that doesn't work. Our daughter recently announced that she is getting married the same weekend as our Scottish booking. I wasn't overly concerned as I had paid 28 for cancellation insurance. We gave six months notice of cancellation. I tried to invoke the insurance only to find that 'Daughter getting married' wasn't on the list of approved reasons. It would be OK if I had documented evidence that I had died, been conscripted, had a letter from my doctor or had been called to jury duty. I only had to satisfy one of the above reasons, not all of them simultaneously. Discover Scotland Holiday Cottages have taken 164 from us and refuse to give it back. I called them and explained but was told "You should have read the small print". Discover Scotland Holiday Cottages didn't tell me what they had done to earn this 164 other than it was their policy.

Pleasant and helpful. The cottage we rented was reasonably and realisticly described and priced. Glad to support a local independent too.

Once again a fabulous easy process from booking to staying at the property. Whilst we were in the area we called into the office in Castle Douglas, to make a booking for next year. The two staff in the office were so nice to talk too, and quickly made the booking for us. It was lovely to actually see staff rather than just do online bookings. If anyone is any doubt about this company, we have previously booked with them about 14 times! We wouldnt do that if they were no good.
