        Castle Douglas is the food town of Dumfries and Galloway. The other two are Wigtown for books and Kircudbright for art. There are good food outlets with original products all along the main street. In addition some of the restaurants are first class for food, if not for premises or sophistication. The fish and chip shop is one of the best in Scotland.
