Quite simply, and quite aside from the spectacular scenery and serenity of the place, the bright and clean ensuite room, the delicious made to order breakfasts, and the happy conversations, Lyndsey, our host, went way beyond her duties. I, having acquired a dental issue of some pain, she volunteered to drive my wife and me to the dental clinic in Dumfries, and then wanted to wait for us while I was treated. In fact, because we had decided to "bus it" because of the exorbitant car rental prices in Dumfries, and even though the bus stop is only a short walk from the farm to Crossmichael, she went out of her way let us know she was going to town and dropped us off at bus stops or even took us into Castle Douglas, all the while resisting our thanks with "it's no bother ... it's what we do!" Indeed it is! When we also inquired about a laundromat in Castle Douglas, she said, "No, why would you do that? Use mine!" Our visit here was wonderful!
