Rob Hall's courses are very carefully planned and thoughtfully delivered. He strikes a perfect balance between getting to the root of the music theory and getting the chance to just play/jam and try out the ideas in practice. I attended 7 of Rob's workshops over the course of a year in a variety of jazz styles and learned a huge amount from every one. Rob, as well as being a very expressive saxophonist and clarinetist, happens to be a great piano player - lovely chord voicings! He plays the drums too! I went to Rob for some piano lessons and we covered so much. I am forever indebted to him for his generous sharing of ideas, approach and knowledge. Highly recommended as a performer, teacher and professional development mentor!"

After completing a music degree, life got in the way and I ended up not playing for many years. When I finally felt able to start again, I needed to find a teacher who could help me re-learn some of the basics, but also one who I wouldn't "out-grow" once I got back up to speed. That's why I first contacted Rob at The Music Workshop. I've now been taking lessons with him for over 3 years, and couldn't be happier with the service I've received. He's an excellent teacher, as well as being a well-respected performer and composer, and has a real focus on musicality and interpretation. He has been very flexible with me when needed, and nothing is ever too much trouble. Highly recommended.

As an adult learner of the Alto Sax, I had tried other teachers but Rob came recommended through a friend, and the difference between the tuition he has provided me in comparison to what I had been receiving is like night and day!! Rob is consistently patient, mild mannered and professional in his approach to his tuition. He provides all necessary instruction to progress at your own pace, but adds an extra layer of relevant musical theory and appropriate analogy to the process, that has really helped me understand not only how to play the instrument, but how to structure my practise, how to approach new pieces so that I can get the most out of playing them and how the pieces I am playing will build me into a competent saxophonist. In addition to all that, Rob has vast experience of examining all over the world and has brought that to bear in teaching me how to approach ABRSM graded examinations, including developing my musicianship in line with the pieces I am to be examined on. I would thoroughly recommend Rob and his teaching methods/materials to any budding musician. The fact that he has now produced a library of online instruction videos will now take my playing to the next level!!
