Guardswell Farm

We got married at Guardswell earlier this month and it was perfect - everything we could have ever dreamed of and more. It is the most gorgeous venue, and the accommodation is all done beautifully. Everyone who works there is lovely, and friendly and we never wanted to leave! Thank you Kirsty for all our questions in the lead up and being so wonderful over the whole weekend.

Update 27 July: upon returning from maternity leave the Manager has seen my review and processed a refund. Thank you. Guaradwell Farm has a stunning location and on the surface the place looks perfect! Great principles regarding recycling, chemical use etc. I had seen it on Instagram and was so happy when I found out you can take dogs. When we arrived we were given a very warm welcome. I was staying in the Pendicle, the first night I couldnt get any hot water out of the taps in the kitchen or the bathroom, but just put it down to being rustic and boiled a kettle on the gas burner to wash the dishes (scalding myself in the process!). On the first morning there was no hot water coming out the shower, I had had the hot water switch on for a while. I texted the help number and they said it normally takes 30 Minutes, so I thought Ill wait 15 minutes more still no hot water. So I packed up my stuff and went down to the park ash house at the main farm, they had texted to say that they would look into it, but I never heard back. Still that night, no hot water, the next morning I reported it again, second day of packing my stuff to go down to the wash house. While the team was apologetic, there was no offer of any compensation for the inconvenience of not having hot water, to be clear I am not a roughing it kind of person and need a shower and coffee to get going in the morning! I would not have booked accommodation that meant going down to a wash house, not matter how nice the showers are! For cleanliness its a 2/5 for Me, and Im no Mrs Hinch. There were dark, wiry, hairs on the bedding and the bathroom sink, I am very fair and my dog is white, so knew they were not mine, when I brought the table out from under the bed it was covered in hair as well and there was black mould round the dye of the kitchen sink. I really wanted to love Guardswell, the location is great, the staff were friendly and it is reasonably priced, but sadly customer care (not following up on the hot water situ on the first day, not offering comp and the cleanliness) let it down for me.
