The first three most important things for a place is Location, location, location. And this is what is true about the beeches. Invergarry is at the intersection of 2 roads, if you take the one road that goes in front of the house west you end up at the Isle of Skye. Take the other road South, you can go to Oban, take the Ferry to Mull, or hop the Jacobite steam train ride. Take it North and you get to the loch Ness area and Inverness. The house was also well appointed with every convenience. If I had to say a negative it was that the living room furniture could be updated. Other than that, excellent stay.

Excellent directions, lovely quiet location, clean, very well-equipped cottage. The walks from the front door were rewarding, the walk up the Aldernaig Burn was different every day and the riverside walk that came out past the local shinty ground was a very pleasant early morning walk with Tthedogs. The forest walks further along the road allowed us to enjoy the fun of the white-water canoeists without leaving the bank. The walk at Farigaig through very old forestry commission pines high on the south side of loch ness came at the end of a spectacular drive and then back via General Wades Military Road. The canal walk from Oich to Fort Augustus was surprisingly quiet and peaceful and the drive to Skye was made all the better by the impressive Glen Schiel. Enjoyed the open log fire which is a wonderful way to end the day. A good selection of games and I loved looking through the collection of local ordinance survey maps. I personally liked the eclectic selection of Scottish History books, but the library had a wide selection of books to suit all tastes. Lots to see and do and a perfect location for local walks and as short drive to some of the most spectacular highland scenery. Thanks Mike and Roz for being great hosts and sharing your lovely cottage. We will be back.
