While well laid out and classically beautiful, these gardens leave much for the avid gardener to desire. The best parts of the gardens are the sculptures, water features, mature trees, and art installations. I am considering returning in spring for the azalea festival at which there is a luncheon complete with 18th century costumes. I visited in early July and was surprised at the lack of floral variety. There really weren't many lilies, roses, or even the southern staples of camellias and magnolias. I recommend a visit if you enjoy picturesque scenery and nature walks but, if you are seeking variety, stop by a botanical garden.
