We've absolutely loved working with Lara, our curtains are fab (beautifully made, warm and they hang so well) and her customer service is excellent. After listening to us explain what we want, Lara takes the time to show us samples and previous examples of her work so that we can turn our idea into a realistic design. As we did this, Lara also identified cost savings and made some brilliant design suggestions too. The end results have been fantastic, our rooms are warmer (so our bills are lower, which is always helpful at the moment), and the curtains work beautifully in each room. I'd highly recommend that anyone who is thinking about getting new curtains or blinds gives her a call.

Fabulous service, superb quality of finished product and I am truly delighted with my new curtains. A fabulous personal service from Lara from start to finish. I was a bit impatient waiting for my curtains but they were truly worth the wait, thank you Lara! If you are fortunate enough to engage Lara you are fortunate indeed - 5 star

What a fantastic service Aurora Drapes offers. From the first moment of contact, Lara was extremely helpful, innovative and attentive. The Northmuir Hall's requirement was a large stage curtain plus side curtains, which all had to meet the current fire regulations. On visiting to measure up she advised on colours and fabrics and produced samples. Her attention to detail is amazing. Everything was hand-stitched, pleated and weighted and hung to perfection. The end result is outstanding and I would heartily recommend Aurora Drapes to anyone looking for new curtains. Jim Smith, Chairman, Northmuir Hall Committee. (Before and after pictures attached)

Lara provides a quality of service of a standard I've never met before. She creates curtains with an eye to displaying the fabric pattern at its best. She hand-sews every curtain to assure the drape is perfect or the blind fills the space. Yes, I had to wait for these, but I would have been happy to wait twice as long. After experiencing Lara's work, I wouldn't return to custom made by a shop.

First let me start by saying that writing such a negative review is a first for me despite having experienced many instances of bad customer service, however my recent experience with Aurora drapes has been the worst and if I could rate 0 stars I would. As you can see from a previous review I left below, Lara made a blind for my mum in 2020. Hence I approached her again in July 2021 to make a further automated roller blind for the same room for my elderly mum who has mobility issues and dementia. Lara quoted me 739.74 for material, the automated rail, making and hanging blind to which I agreed. After 3 months of various hold ups and errors (admittedly some of which were out of Laras control, but none due to us, the customer) and a price increase of 120.76 (which I was happy to pay given some of the issues experienced by Lara) the blind was completed and brought to mums house for hanging on 25 September 2021. At this point it was discovered the blind was too short and hence would require Lara to fix it. The next day 26th September I received an email from Lara informing me that the price had suddenly increased to 1373.04 a 60% increase overnight with no explanation as to why. I was then basically told to accept the price or shed down tools. This felt wrong to me and I felt I was being held to ransom but given wed waited 3 months for this blind and mum was desperate to have it in place before the dark nights I accepted and paid. In the last couple of months weve experienced a couple of operating faults with the blind and hence have gone back to Lara for resolution. On the first occasion Lara blamed my mum for not operating the blind correctly, despite the fact my mum has 2 such blinds both of which operate in exactly the same way and weve had no issues with the other one. On the second occasion she accused my mums neighbour for damaging the blind in transit, despite the fact that the blind had been hanging at the window working fine post being brought back from her workshop first time round. She has been particularly unhelpful arranging times to drop off and collect the blind insisting on appointments to simply it hand over & collect, shes been incredibly rude to my mums neighbour whos kindly been helping us out, snapping at him when he arrived 2 minutes before his allotted time. On both occasions shes charged 65 to fix with no explanation as to what caused the blind to stop working, shes not done what she said shed do and send the blind back to manufacturer to check and has completely refused to answer questions around how the drive shaft could disengaged from the motor simply hanging at the window. She refuses to send me a copy of operating instruction and troubleshooting guidance for the blinds, something that anyone buying something electrical or mechanical would expect to have. On being charged 65 to fix second time round I challenged this and was basically told pay up or shed unpick her own work and return it to me in its non -working state, again I was held to ransom over the return of my mums blind, my mum desperate to have it back to feel safe in her own home with the dark evenings approaching. Lara has completely taken advantage of a vulnerable elderly lady whose daughters dont live to close by and hence are unable to be there to oversee such things and I have therefore reported the above unethical business practices to Trading Standards. Im sure Lara will attempt to refute the above however everything said above is captured on email correspondence and her sheer rudeness can be corroborated by my mums neighbour Graham Rees also a local business person. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (earlier review from 2020) Excellent service from Lara converting a Roman blind for my elderly mum from a manual to electric blind. Mum is so delighted with her new blind and not having to struggle to close them any longer.
